A small cafe on the main street of Bilo, doing proper coffee, a big breakfast, a cabinet full of cake and a wall of local art you can actually buy. Dine in, grab it to go, or take a table out the front.
The Rabbit Hole
Not the sort of coffee you expect to find on a country main street.
Roxanne opened The Rabbit Hole on Kariboe Street in 2021, and it has been the spot for a decent coffee in Biloela ever since. It is a proper speciality cafe: espresso done carefully, cold brew when the weather turns, and a kitchen that sends out breakfast and lunch all morning.
The room is part of the appeal. Deep green walls hung with work by local artists, polished hardwood floors, big timber tables, a leather couch in the corner and plants hanging off the light fitting. It is air conditioned, which matters in the Callide Valley, and there are high chairs and baby seats if you are bringing the little ones.
The cabinet
Cabinet goodies, and not your average boring slice.
That last bit is a customer's line, not ours. The cabinet gets restocked through the week with cakes, slices and tarts, plus the house banana bread, which locals know as the Bilo Banana Bread and which comes in gluten free and dairy free as well.

A full shelf of the cake cabinet is set aside for gluten free, which is rarer than it should be out here. One reviewer called it "such a joy", and if you have ever tried to find a GF slice in a country town you will know exactly what she meant.
From the kitchen
Breakfast from seven, lunch until two.
The kitchen runs all the way through, so breakfast does not stop at ten. Smashed avo with poached eggs, french toast, waffles, toasted sandwiches, wraps, salads and the burger everyone talks about.
French toast
Thick cut, berries, cream and a honeycomb crumb.

On sourdough with poached eggs, feta, rocket and balsamic.
Doors open at 7:00am
Tuesday to Friday. Saturday is a shorter one, 8:00am to midday.
Closed Sunday and Monday.
Lunch
The pulled pork burger is the one they come back for.
Marinated pulled pork with slaw, sweet barbecue sauce and a side of chips. Alongside it, toasties, wraps and a salad bar that changes through the week.

The Perfect Blend
Our own blend, roasted up the road at Yeppoon.
The Perfect Blend is a Rabbit Hole collaboration with Cuppa Cabana, the roastery over at Yeppoon. A medium roast built from Brazil, Timor and Peru, it is what goes through the machine here and it sits on the shelf in 500g bags if you want to take some home.
Espresso, flat whites, hot chocolate, a proper tea list, and cold brew once the Central Queensland heat kicks in.

This cafe is a gem for breakfast! For the past four years, we've been stopping here in Biloela while buying cattle, and it's our go-to spot. The staff are super friendly, and the food is delicious. If you're in the area, definitely stop in.
A lovely little café with a great atmosphere and friendly, smiling staff. Delicious ice latte and banana bread. I came back for a burger and carrot cake, which were just as good! There was a bit of a wait, but the café was full and the staff apologised when they brought my food. I had a lovely time, thank you
What a gorgeous surprise! Delicious cabinet goodies (not your average, boring slice). The staff are lovely and the atmosphere is sweet and inviting.
A really nice cafe to enjoy coffee and cake (we did morning tea). The table spacing is great if you like to have your coffee and read without having to filter out the chat from the next table. The best thing for me is that there is a whole shelf in the cake cabinet that is GF, such a joy! Their coffee (espresso) and hot chocolate were both very nice and the cake didn't last very long. Lovely staff. We will definitely visit again on our return journey.
Not from Bilo, but a great little cafe so much so that I came back twice during my stay! Coffee consistently good both times. Various seating arrangements, couches, tables, high seats, baby seats, seats outside. Will plan to come back again next time.
The room
A cafe, and a little gallery.
The green wall carries work by local artists, priced and ready to take home, and it changes over. Along the other side there are shelves of coffee, loose leaf tea, candles and bits and pieces worth a browse while you wait.
Tables are spaced far enough apart that you can sit with a coffee and a book without listening in on the next table. There is a leather couch, a few armchairs, high seats, baby seats, and a couple of tables out under the awning if you would rather be on the street.
